Thursday, 12/12/13 class plan Consider Gaiman’s Three Phrases. Two ways to develop a SF story about “the present” by means of an imagined future: 1. Starting with an idea/concern/issue about the present that you develop into a version of the future 2. Starting with a vision of the future that you analyze to learn what concerned you about the present HW If you choose #1, research local, national, or international issues and write a paragraph or more about what the issue is and why it concerns you. If you choose #2, write a paragraph or more about the future world that you are building and what problems people face in that world.

You will write sentences using Unit 3 vocabulary words for 10 minutes, then share with a small group, who will let you know if you have used it well. Vice versa. Your sentences can be a science fiction fragment, or part of a Thanksgiving story, or anything else amusing or touching, and yet school- appropriate.
