 Lightning is a river of electricity, but scientists are still not sure what causes this power. It’s still a mystery.

 Lightning kills about 100 people a year and 250 people survive when they get struck. It’s dangerous, so be careful because it kills a lot of people.

 Lightning goes about 60,000 m.p.h and every second there’s 100 lightning bolts. Every day there’s about 10 million bolts. There’s a lot of lightning. chicagoredcross.blogspot.com

 Lightning is an electrical charge in the sky and there’s an opposite charge in the ground. Big sparks shoot from the clouds, and they meet in the middle so fast you can’t see it.

 When lightning hits the sand it makes it heat up so the sand joins in the path of the lightning bolt. It is called a fulgurite. I think that’s so cool because it’s like making glass.

 Lightning is a really cool topic. There is a lot of interesting things about it. And be safe with lightning because it’s hotter than the sun. Lightning is awesome.
