1 Lesson No. 2 Science Grade 4
Got electricity? Lesson No. 2 Science Grade 4 Standard 1a

2 What is electricity? Electricity is a form of energy.
Electricity is caused by the movement of tiny particles called electrons carrying negative charges. Electricity can do work! Electricity can flow from one place to another, carrying energy.

3 A lightning bolt is an awesome display of electrical power!
Lightning is a discharge of electricity that happens when the clouds and the ground attain a build up of electrical charges.

4 Electricity flows! Electrons flow from a negative source to a positive source! A circuit provides the path by which electrons can flow. Electrons can only flow only through materials called conductors. All metals are good conductors…

5 What are the different parts?
CIRCUIT What are the different parts? Battery Wires Load (Bulb or Buzzer)

6 Circuit Diagrams Battery or source of electricity Conductors or wires
Bulb or any other load like a buzzer A switch can complete or break a circuit

7 Series Circuit A series circuit allows electrons to follow only one path from the source through all of the loads and back to the source. All the loads (light bulbs) are connected in a series. The electricity flows in only one path. If one of the light bulbs is out…will the all the other light bulbs still work?

8 Parallel Circuit A circuit that provides more than one path for electricity to flow. Bulbs connected in parallel circuit burn brighter. Why do you think so?
