Competency 008: G The Master Technology Teacher: Knows that decisions about AT for students are required by law to be made be the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee or Section 504 Committee as identified personnel who are responsible for AT decisions

Assistive Technology – any tool used to increase, maintain, or improve the capabilities of a child with disabilities ARD – Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee The purpose of an ARD could include an Annual ARD, a Review ARD, or an ARD to discuss a new evaluation. IEP – Individualized Education Program The IEP creates an opportunity for teachers, parents, administrators, related services personnel to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities. IDEA – Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Section 504 – “No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States... shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance...."
