Mortuary Science is the academic path to becoming a funeral director. Funeral director’s serve people during the most stressful time of loss, pain, and grief. Mortuary science includes the study of behavioral, physical, and applied science. An embalmer prepares a body for final disposition according to the families wishes.
They prepare bodies for internment in conformity with legal requirements. An embalmer must wash and dry the body, with a special germicidal soap and use a hot air dryer. With this job people prepare the bodies in different ways. Embalmers all use the same format when dressing the body and placing it in a casket.
To perform this job I would start off with a small business in the Tallahassee area, Because I am familiar with the town and it want be that expensive. But after I have got use the job and have came up on my money I think I will open up a bigger business in Miami but also keep my small business in Tallahassee.
Each state has different requirements for licensing embalmers Apply and perform as an apprentice for one to three before or after your college courses. Receive a certificate from the state board of health that you have been immunized against diphtheria, hepatitis B and tetanus. Got to have a high school diploma
Average salary is $34,690 a year. Maximum salary is $84,060 a year.
