Telling Part

Every complete sentence has two parts: naming part and telling part The naming part is the who (or what) the sentence is about. The telling part tells what the subject does.

Judy and her dog run on the beach every day. EXAMPLE: Judy and her dog run on the beach every day. Naming Who? What do they do? Judy and her dog Telling run on the beach everyday.

To Find the Telling Part: Ask what does it do? Find the verb (action or linking) Draw a vertical line before the verb The telling part is the rest of the sentence.
