GUESS IT!!! The game to guess the adaptations, habitats and ecosystems of some living things. BY ELISE GRAN!!!!!!!!!!

Penguin Question#1 What do you think the penguin’s ecosystem is? Desert Ecosystem Ocean Ecosystem Polar Ecosystem Rainforest Ecosystem

Answer: The answer is, C. Polar Ecosystem. A polar ecosystem is very cold and has lots of nonliving parts such as ice, water, and snow.

Penguin Question#2 What are all of the adaptations a penguin has? A. Blubber to keep warm in cold weather B. Long hook on its bill to catch fish C. Feathers so it can fly D. Webbed feet to help swim

Answer: The correct answers are: B, long hook on its bill to catch fish, and D, webbed feet to help swim. Penguins can not fly (C), and they do not have blubber (A) (that is hard to believe but it’s true)

Cactus Question#1 Where does a cactus belong? A. Desert Ecosystem B. Prairie Ecosystem C. Freshwater Ecosystem D. Polar Ecosystem

Answer: A cactus belongs in A, a desert ecosystem. Desert ecosystems have really warm weather and cold weather at night. Some organisms don’t come out until night, because of the hot temperatures. But a cactus stays out all day and all night.

Cactus Question#2 What adaptations does a cactus have to survive? A. Has poison-filled wrinkles that can kill animals B. Has thorns that help store water and hurt animals that try to eat it C. It’s roots are close to the surface so that when it rains, they get the water easily D. It’s thorns fall off in the winter, like some other plants

Answer: The correct answers are B, has thorns that help store water and hurt animals that try to eat it, and C, it’s roots are close to the surface so that when it rains, they get the water easily. A cactus does have wrinkles, but they don’t have poison in them (A). Also, a cactus’ thorns don’t fall off in the winter (D).

What is it? Fill in the blank questions-review Something that helps a living thing survive in its habitat is called a/an __________. Where an animal lives is called a/an__________. All living and nonliving things that exist and interact in one place is a/an__________.

Answers for “What is it” Something that helps a living thing survive in its habitat is called a/an adaptation. Where an animal lives is called a/an habitat. All living and nonliving things that exist and interact in one place is a/an ecosystem. Now back to questions!

Owl Question#1 Which ecosystem does an owl live in? A. Prairie Ecosystem B. Polar Ecosystem C. Desert Ecosystem D. Forest Ecosystem

Answer: Owls live in D, a forest ecosystem. Forests have many trees and leaves, which owls need.

Owl Question#2 Which adaptations do owls have? A. Have excellent hearing and sight for hunting B. Being able to fly and sneak up on their prey C. Sheds its skin to stay cool in warm weather D. Most owls are nocturnal because most of their prey is nocturnal

Answer: The adaptations of an owl are A, have excellent hearing and sight for hunting, B, being able to fly and sneak up on their prey, and D, most owls are nocturnal because most of their prey is nocturnal. No types of owls shed their skin in warm weather (C).

Buffalo Question#1 What ecosystem does a buffalo live in? A. Forest Ecosystem B. Prairie Ecosystem C. Pond Ecosystem D. Desert Ecosystem

Answer: A buffalo lives in B, a prairie ecosystem. Prairie ecosystems have A LOT of grass, but few or no trees.

Buffalo Question#2 What are all of the adaptations a buffalo has? A. Have very great vision to help spot its prey B. Have a very thick and shaggy coat to keep them warm, but they shed their fur in warmer temperatures C. Has a very large size to kill animals D. Has a large hump on its back made of muscles that helps the buffalo bend over to eat and use its head as a snowplow

Answer: The correct answers are B, have a very thick and shaggy coat to keep them warm, but they shed their fur in warmer temperatures, and D, has a large hump on its back made of muscles that helps the buffalo bend over to eat and use its head as a snowplow. Bison do not have strong vision and their fur covers their eyes (A). Also bison do have a large size, but they are herbivores, so they don’t eat any animals.

COOL! This is an actual picture of a real live bison I saw when my family was driving through the Black Hills of South Dakota last summer!
