Background Families and Social Care (FSC) are reviewing its remaining in-house provision following the Older Person’s Modernisation Programme which commenced in June Phase 1 of the programme led to the closure of 6 homes in 2011 Phase 2 commences 20 September for 12 weeks

Extra Care Housing Regis Gate, Sittingbourne New scheme opening in September 2014 Self contained, en-suite accommodation with catering facilities Community space with lounge, gym and activity rooms Assisted bathrooms Care on site 24 hours a day, with flexible hours and types of support offered

Consultation Proposal To close the service and find alternative accommodation for residents in the independent sector

Process and timetable Consultation period 20 Sept- 13 Dec 2013 Report on outcome of consultation end Dec 2013 Report to Members January 2014 If closure approved- Implementation period Feb- Sept 2014 No final decision on closure until Members have made their decision in January 2014
