Elements required for datasets registered in the EEA SDI catalogue EEA needs: Metadata ISO19115 and INSPIRE compliant Register additional information (dataset location, temporal extent…) Have a consistent structure for metadata records stored in the catalogue Allow for automated processing of metadata by CSW clients Consequences: Increase the number of mandatory ISO19115 elements Define very strict guidelines for all elements to be processed automatically Define editorial guidelines to ensure consistency of metadata records 3
