We have listed reasons as to why people should care for the environment – but what about Christians? Christians would agree with the reasons we have already listed but unlike non-religious people they believe there are further reasons to care for the environment and help with environmental issues. Some Christians may join organisations that work to help the environment. (SEE HOMEWORK TASK FOR FURTHER INFORMATION)

Draw the following table in the back of your books... Complete the table using the following pictures. BONUS question – what do they all have in common (I’m looking for a WORD ) Job title What is their responsibilities?

What do all these jobs have in common? STEWARDS Christians believe that human beings are STEWARDS of the earth and this effects how they view and treat the environment.

Having a duty to do or be held accountable for something. The power or right of governing and controlling. The act of creating the universe.

STEWARDSHIP: Humans are looking after the earth for God – they are temporary keepers and so must ensure they return it in the condition God would want.STEWARDSHIP: AUTHORITY/DOMINION: Humans are in charge of the natural world. Some see this as meaning they can therefore do as they want with the world as it belongs to them.AUTHORITY/DOMINION: RESPONSIBILITY: God has given human beings the gift of the world and they have a duty to ensure it is passed on to future generations.RESPONSIBILITY: CREATION: God created the world and everything in it – humans must therefore show respect and protect God’s creation.CREATION:
