Department for Work and Pensions 2 Social Justice Social Justice is about giving individuals and families facing multiple disadvantages the support that they need to turn their lives around. The Government published its Social Justice strategy in March Social Justice focuses on;  Prevention and early intervention.  Concentrating interventions on recovery and independence - not maintenance.  Promoting work as the most sustainable route out of poverty - while offering unconditional support for those who are severely disabled and cannot work.  Recognising that the most effective solutions will often be designed and delivered locally.  Ensuring that interventions provide a fair deal for the taxpayer.

Department for Work and Pensions 7 Troubled Families Programme Local Authorities have turned around the lives of 1,675 troubled families after just nine months of the programme. In those families, children are now regularly in school and not committing crime, or adults are in work. A new network of 150 specialist Troubled Families Managers and advisers from Jobcentre Plus will be helping LAs with the Trouble Families Programme. The 25 largest LAs already have people seconded to their teams The remainder will be in place by the end of May (possible slip due to UC) Any LA with less than 545 Troubled Families will receive support via the JCP Partnership Manager.
