Research Council Grants on Web Systems Gerry Lawson IRIOS Workshop, London

Open Access - Select Committee on Science & Technology Academic authors currently lack sufficient motivation to self–archive in institutional repositories. We recommend that the Research Councils and other Government funders mandate their funded researchers to deposit a copy of all their articles in their institution’s repository within one month of publication or a reasonable period to be agreed following publication, as a condition of their research grant.

Integrated funder databases already exist (ERFF)

Commercial listings of research projects are coming Scival Funding

Government Research Stats are improving

UKPMC already integrates inputs and outputs

RC GOW Issues All receive datafeed from SSC Ltd Some still frozen waiting update Great variation (e.g. NERC gives financial breakdowns, ESRC gives outputs) Councils have agreed in principle a common system Desire to link inputs to outputs Potential to link to impacts and datasets Need for common export format (e.g. CERIF) Need for authority files for people, institutions, departments, funders, output types, project types How best to meet RO needs?
