SUMR AUX Embarkation of Non-Aux Personnel Process (continued) Approval can be granted for all patrol types Training patrols receive greater scrutiny due to inherent risks If patrol becomes operational mission Coxswain must advise SUMR of non-AUX personnel Non-AUX personnel may remain Coxswain must perform Operational Risk Assessment in coordination with SUMR and Chief of Response Coxswains should act first if lives are in immediate danger Brief SUMR once the situation has stabilized Eighth Western Rivers 2013 Operations Workshop 9

SUMR Marine Assistance Request Broadcast (MARB) SUMR Policy SUMR Cmd Ctr broadcasts MARB for non-distress cases If AUX responds or it was a happen-upon no need to do MARB AUX may request MARB from SUMR Cmd Ctr MARB effectiveness may be spotty due to gaps in radio coverage areas & lack of commercial tow operators in SUMR AOR Eighth Western Rivers 2013 Operations Workshop 10
