APLIED SURVEY IN AQUACULTURE(PONDS)

Height differences in fish culture ( Slope determination) In pond culture, you must often measure the difference in height between two points. To construct a pond, you need to determine the heights of the dikes you will build, and the depths of the pond bottoms you will dig. To choose the routes of water-supply canals from the source to the ponds, you will also need height and depth measurements. And when you plan a reservoir, you will also need to make height measurements to determine where its shoreline will be

Types of problems you will be facing. There are three types of problems in the measurement of height differences. 1. You may have to measure any differences in height among a series of points on the ground, and compare them. From the results of this comparison, you can calculate the heights of given points so that you can make a map. This is called surveying the levels of the points, or levelingyou can make a mapleveling

Calculating height differences

2. You may have to locate points which are at the same height. This is called laying out contour lines, or contouring contouring Contour line

3. You may have to locate points which have a given difference in height. In this case, you will be setting out lines of slope with a definite gradientyou will be setting out Setting out a slope
