Psalm 139:1-6 1 For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. 5 You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

I. He knows every turn in our lives (v.3). 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. (Ps 139:3) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Ps 119:105)

II. He knows what and why of our every word. (v. 4). 4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. (Ps 139:4) Tongue is a sharp weapon 18 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. (Prov 12:18) 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. Selah 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! (Ps 52:2- 4)

II. He knows what and why of our every word. (v. 4). Even if we can control our tongue, we cannot control other people’s tongue. He knows it all.

II. He knows what and why of our every word. (v. 4). Paul’s Way of Handling other people’s words—

II. He knows what and why of our every word. (v. 4). Paul’s Way of Handling other people’s words—He knows it all. 3 I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. 4 My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God. (1Cor 4:3- 5)

III. God is good, He desires to bless us. (vv.5,1-2). 5 You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. (Ps 139:5)

III. God is good, He desires to bless us. (vv.5,1-2). NLT Psalm 139:5 You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1John 1:9)
