Ponderosa High School Science Course Selection

9 th Grade Choices Earth/Space/Environmental (Year Long) Recommended for most 9 th grade students

If you answer “yes” to all the following questions, consider enrolling in Biology Will you be in Algebra II as a freshman? Are you planning to take 4 years of science including Physics and AP classes? Are you mature and self- motivated concerning homework ? Do you have excellent reading skills? Have you enjoyed and received high marks in all your previous science classes?

3 years of Science are required for graduation. If a student completes Earth/Space/Environmental Science their 9 th grade year, they enroll in Biology for their 10 th grade year. If a student completes Biology their 9 th grade year, they enroll in Chemistry their 10 th grade year.

There are many course choices available the 11 th and 12 th grade years. It is recommended that students who are college bound take Chemistry and Physics. Global Science and ChemCom are available as year long classes. AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science and AP Physics- year long electives.

Semester electives include: Anatomy and Physiology Aquatic Biology Astronomy Forensics Geology Zoology
