IOF-WV: Trendsetter Founded 1996, first state IOF Program Objective: assist energy-intensive traditional industries to modernize, collaborate, perform and apply research Particular targets: energy efficiency, industrial productivity

Missions of IOF-WV

Research Mission Develop collaborations between industry, university and government for applied R&D 10 collaborative projects funded by DOE. Total federal funding $6.37 Million Projects have involved Aluminum, Steel, Glass and Chemicals industries

Outreach Mission University faculty working directly with industries in their plants Liaison between industries and National Labs, DOE, State government Educational programs such as annual symposium, workshops, seminars

Economic Development Mission Bringing Federal dollars to the state Helping local industries improve profitability and productivity Providing forums for and facilitating communication between industries for collaborative efforts Developing ideas for new businesses or new products for existing businesses

Summary IOF-WV is the oldest program of its type in the U.S. It has involved dozens of companies ranging from small hand-glass plants to large steel and aluminum companies. It is responsible for the influx of several million dollars of Federal funding to the state, and has helped improve the profitability of many or our state’s industries.
