Engagement Phase QUESTION TO THE STUDENT A soft layer surface of boiled milk. After few minutes of preparation of rice, a soft layer is found upper portion of the starch . Which materials are bring out at the pond digging or tube well boring ? Which materials are come out at volcanic eruption and earth quake ?

STUDENT OBSERVATIONS: Visit to Geological Survey of India. Metrological Survey of India. Visit to Fault and Thrust Regions. Visit to Landslide Areas. Visit to Mining Areas.
STUDENT OBSERVATIONS: Surface is divided into two layers Si-Al (Silicon and Aluminum) and Si-Ma (Silicon and Magnesium ) Discontinuity of two layers is known as Conrad –discontinuity. Mantle of the earth.
…………….Cond. Of STUDENT OBSERVATIONS Core of the earth Ni-Fe (Nickel and Ferrous) Moho discontinuity and Guten Burg discontinuity Visit Geological Survey of India Visit Meteorological Office.
Explanation 1.Earth is formed with the rocks. 2.After a certain depth of surface, earth is not solid like surface and different character in nature due to high pressure and temperature. 3.Water is not the component of earth 4.The basin like portions are filled with water i.e. ocean basin in the earth crust. 5.Rising parts of crust are continents. 6.All the continents and ocean basins are on the crust.
ELABORATION These facts are occurred due to release of heat from earth and contraction takes place and as well as taking its natural shape and present form. Earth is formed with the rocks. After a certain depth of surface, earth is not solid like surface due to high temperature and pressure of it. Earth crust is comparatively solid in form rather than sub surface materials of the earth.
………..Cond. ELABORATION After various observation by Scientists, all layers have an average depth and having different specific gravity. Earth changes shapes from gaseous form to present shape due to cooling. All the materials concentrated as their specific gravity and try to solidify. All the layers are identified by the earthquake wave. Different layers react different responses.
Specific gravity and of Different State Layers ………..Cond. ELABORATION Specific gravity and of Different State Layers Layers State Specific Gravity Crust Solid 2.8-2.30 Mantle Solid &Mobile (Viscous) 5.5-5.60 Outer Core Liquid 10.00-12.00 Inner Core 12.00-13.50
EVALUATION Following questions should be asked to the learners How did we know the layers of the earth? Why different materials are concentrated at different layers.
……..Cond. Evaluation Which layer produces the earth's magnetic field? Crust Inner core Mantle Outer core All of the above Which layer of the earth's interior has the lowest density? Continental crust Inner core Mantle Oceanic crust Outer core Which layer of the earth's interior is liquid? Crust Inner core Mantle Outer core All of the above
…….Cond. Evaluation Which layer of the earth's interior has the highest density? Continental crust Inner core Mantle Oceanic crust Outer core What portion of the earth's volume is occupied by the mantle? 20% 35% 50% 65% 80%
