I’m So Mad

Sometimes I feel mad or upset.

I might feel mad or upset if I don’t want to do my work or clean up at center time. It’s okay to not want to do something and feel upset.

Sometimes when I feel mad or upset I throw myself on the floor and scream. It’s not okay to throw myself on the floor when I have a problem! I might hurt myself or another person.

Throwing myself on the floor does not help me fix my problem Throwing myself on the floor does not help me fix my problem. I can stop and take a breath or ask for help. I can use my words if I get upset because I don’t like what is happening. I can stay calm.

When I use my words I can help to fix my problems safely When I use my words I can help to fix my problems safely. I won’t hurt myself or another person. Throwing myself on the floor does not help me fix my problems.

I might feel mad or frustrated if I make a mistake, if I can’t do something by myself, or if my teacher tells me “No!” These are problems I might have. It’s okay to feel mad or frustrated when I have a problem!

Sometimes when I feel mad I throw myself on the floor, kick my feet, and scream. I might push chairs, throw things, or push people. This is called having a tantrum. It’s not okay to have a tantrum when I have a problem! I might hurt myself or another person.
