Stony Point Elementary in Albemarle County and Magna Vista High School in Henry County were recognized by the Green Ribbon Schools Program. Both schools have reduced energy usage in the past four years, have incorporated gardens into lessons and activities, and buy much of their food from local farms. Magna Vista’s landscaping provides cover for wildlife, and the school works with the Dan River Basin Association to raise and release native trout.
