AVID Advancement Via Individual Determination Students will work on skills and strategies to create the goal of attending college. Students will work on goal setting, Cornell note taking, study habits, skills needed to achieve goals, peer tutoring and long range testing strategies. Students will work to see what the need to go to a college that fits their needs based on their goals (second semester)

Writing for multiparagraph essays & prep for STAR Writing test in March Reports & Projects Weekly Lessons for Spelling or Wordly Wise, Grammar & Writing. Reading charts with nightly reading Writing of essays done in class with drafts completed in class. Final drafts typed or hand written.

History Set of cultures beginning with end of BC era. Fall of Rome to Renaissance Rome, Islam, Africa, Medieval Europe China, Japan, Meso-Americas, Renaissance, Reformation, & Scientific Revolution. Lessons with mapping, vocabulary, timelines, text reading & questions

Graphic organizers, worksheets Projects & research report writing Access to Holt Online for all units in text. (Internet forms required for all students) Notebook format to keep everything in one place. Group project done in class/research both in and outside of class.
