“When we don’t know what to do…

…our eyes are on You.”

We have 20/20 vision: 2 Chronicles 20:20 “Believe in the LORD your God, so shall you be established; believe His prophets, so shall you prosper.”

When facing overwhelming odds, keep your eyes on God. When three nations joined together to war against Judah, Jehoshaphat set his face to seek God, proclaimed a fast, and prayed, helplessly, “We don’t know what to do but our eyes are on You.”

His prayer acknowledged God’s strength and his people’s helplessness against the odds. “And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.” Then a prophetic word came, and everything changed……

“Do not be afraid or dismayed… the battle is not yours but God’s. You will not need to fight. Stand still and see the salvation of the LORD.” As the king bowed down to pray, the priests stood up to praise! The next morning they arose early, with confidence!

As their praising priests led them out to the battle, God caused their enemies to ambush one another. Judah plundered the enemy camp for three days and praised God all the way home!

1. With the odds against them they asked God for help. 2. God responded with a powerful prophetic promise. 3. Loud praise because of the prophecy led them out to the battle. 4. They plundered the enemy camp of its spoils! 1/

A single prophecy changed their situation overnight! They believed the prophet and so they prospered. You can prophesy your way to prosperity! In the Bible, to “prosper” means “to move forward”

“And the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah.” (Ezra 6:14) How did they prosper? They finished what they had started! “And they continued building until they finished the temple.”

Does God want you to prosper? “The disciple whom Jesus loved” says “Yes!” “Beloved, I pray above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2) “May God have pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” (Psalm 35:27)

If God can give you words of witness for your enemies, He can also give you words of prophecy for your friends. The principle is the same: As you start speaking, God continues. (Mark 13:11)

Prophesying is like inspired preaching, except for the element of revelation: We tell people things about themselves that they know only God knows. (1 Corinthians 14:24-25)

1. Let your heart bubble up with a good thing. (Psalm 45:1) 2. Use a verbal diving board. (2 Samuel 23:1-3) 3. God speaks to the heart and we give Him a voice. 4. Say loudly to others what God says quietly to you.

Now pray this prayer: “Lord, I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on you, and now, by your grace and through the power of your Spirit, I will begin to prophesy!”
