Agrobiodiversity – comprising all components of biodiversity, that are directly related to food production and agriculture, as well all components within agroecosystems, i. e. Diversity of animals, plants, microorganisms at genetics and ecosystem level, without what sustainability of main function in agro ecosystem, its structure and processes Аgrobiodiversity combines: Genetic source of plants including fodder and pastures plants, also timber which are essential parts of agricultural production Genetic source of animals, including fish sources, while fishing is a consistent part of agroecosystem, also genetic source of insects Genetic sources of microorganisms and mushrooms of agroecosystem (V КС КБР, 2000 г.)

TCF Convening: The goal of the convening has been to share experiences and to create conditions for mutual learning between TCF grantees on agriculture biodiversity and food sovereignty and provide recommendations for further development programming and policy issues.

Presentations on agro-biodiversity, food sovereignty, culture and resilience in Tajikistan Resilience of Agro Ecosystems, Food-ways and Policy Issues Agro-biodiversity and Food Sovereignty in Tajikistan Pamiri Nature, Culture and Agro-ecosystems Stewardship of Agricultural Heritage in Tajik Traditions Traditional Knowledge and Practices in Foodways: a New Role of Women Indigenous Partnership and the Importance of Local Food Systems Platform for Agrobiodiversity

Farmers are active researchers should be well linked with scientists and support each other’s and identifying research priorities should be decided together with scientist to develop innovations, do research on traditional methods, alternative energy, medicinal herbs etc. Information sharing between all partners needs to be enhanced in order to improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of the joint work of all stakeholders. Importance of creating a stable food supply even if on a lower level. Networking and communication should be encouraged as well as government cooperation. People should be motivated to grow their own food, if they have the possibility. Policy and advocacy: Conduct round tables, workshops seminar at different level to present and discuss recommendations and lessons learnt Publication of materials from convening findings/report translation and information communication materials (leaflets, calendar etc.) Support publication materials on better promotion of traditional and healthy food Support projects that provide practical solutions to the challenges of agro-biodiversity (visited during Convening) based on needs to be identified Design a project to work with secondary schools on promotion of agro- biodiversity ideas among youth Recommendations
