What questions should I ask? About the role itself What am I being asked to do? Is there a written job description? Are they looking for particular skills or experience? What is the time commitment?

What questions should I ask? About meetings How often are the meetings? Where will they be held? How much reading or preparation will I be expected to do ahead of the meeting?

What questions should I ask? About support What training will I be offered? Will there be a named person providing advice, support, mentoring? Will there be practical support such as access to office equipment, use of computer, photocopying, printing and telephone?

What questions should I ask? About payment and expenses Will I be offered payment for my involvement? Will my expenses such as carer costs and travel be covered? How would payment affect my benefits or income tax?

What questions should I ask? About meetings How often are the meetings? –Envisage 2/3 per year Where will they be held? –Depending on the membership – but most likely a central London venue How much reading or preparation will I be expected to do ahead of the meeting? –Depends on the meeting
