The Implementation 5  Implement your ideas by April 4  Create your Step Up Display (similar to Science Fair); include proof of implementation

Morning Schedule 9 am Doors open for display set up 10 am Preliminary Round “Elevator Pitch” for judges 12:30 pm Lunch RSVP for self & parents /guests 7

8 Afternoon Schedule  Finalists Announced during lunch  Top 10 Entries based on judges’ decision advance to the finals  1-3 p.m. – Finalist presentations – all Step Up participants may vote – but you may not vote for your own project  Awards and Recognition

9 Step Up Finals Finalists will have five (5) minutes to present their issue and their implemented project on stage before the judges and all other Step Up participants. All Step Up participants will vote for their top three projects. You may not vote for your own project. Only teens entered in Step Up may vote. No parents or friends may vote. The Step Up youth vote will count as one judge. Note: If you are using a PowerPoint presentation or anything else that requires a computer for display, please load your material on a flash drive.

10 Judging Presentations will be judged on:  Depth of issue analysis  Quality of the solution  Effectiveness of implementation  Originality (in issue selection and treatment)  Thoroughness of preparation

Prizes & Recognition Note: Team members must share the cash prizes. Prize money is provided via Loudoun Youth, Inc st Place:$1000 (plus presentation of Step Up project at YouthFest 2011) 2 nd Place: $500 3 rd Place: $250 Other awards and recognition will also be presented.
