Arteries to the Neck, Head, and Brain These branch off the subclavian and common carotid arteries. 1.Vertebral arteries – branch off the subclavian arteries.

Cardiovascular: Major Veins

Head, Neck, and Brain

Superior Vena Cava

Brachiocephalic v. (R/L) Left and right brachiocephalic veins flow into the superior vena cava

Vertebral v. (R/L) Vertebral v. drains directly into brachiocephalic v.

Internal jugular v. (R/L) Internal jugulars drain into the brachiocephalic veins

External jugular v. (R/L) External jugulars flow directly into the brachiocephalic veins

Subclavian v. (R/L) Subclavians unite with internal jugulars and drain into brachiocephalic veins

Shoulder & Upper Limb

Cephalic v. (R/L) Begins at the venous arch and flows up the arm to drain into the subclavian vein

Axillary v. (R/L) Axillary vein drains into subclavian vein at the first rib

Basilic v. (R/L) Basilic vein begins at the venous arch, joins the brachial vein and drains into axillary vein

Median cubital v. (R/L) Median cubital vein flows into the basilic vein

Brachial v. (R/L) Brachial vein joins the basilic and drains into the axillary

Radial v. and Ulnar v. (R/L) Radial and Ulnar veins join at the bend of the elbow and flow into the brachial vein

Abdominal Viscera (Internal Organs)

Inferior Vena cava

Hepatic v.

Suprarenal v. (R/L)

Renal v. (R/L)

Lower Limbs & Pelvis

Common iliac v. (R/L)

Internal iliac v. (R/L) Internal iliac joins the external iliac and drains into the common iliac

External iliac v. (R/L)

Femoral v. (R/L) Femoral vein drains into external iliac (cut)

Great Saphenous v. (R/L) Longest vein in the body!

Popliteal v. (R/L) Popliteal vein is located behind the knee and drains into the femoral vein

Anterior tibial v. (R/L) Deep vein that drains into the popliteal and then the femoral. Extends between the tibia and fibula

Posterior tibial v. (R/L) Deep vein that unites with the anterior tibial vein and flows into the popliteal

Dorsalis pedis v. (R/L)
