Order Of Operations By : Gabby Jimenez

Vocabulary… Order Of Operations Definition: Rules for evaluating an expression involving more than one operation. Sentence: Mathematicians have established an order of operations to evaluate an expression involving more than one operation.

Basics… Rule 1: First perform any calculations inside parentheses. Rule 2:   Next perform all multiplications and divisions, working from left to right. Rule 3:   Lastly, perform all additions and subtractions, working from left to right

Just A Way To Remember…. P = Please E = Excuse M = My D = Dear A = Aunt S = Sally

Parenthesis Always do parenthesis first. If there isn’t any parenthesis skip it . Example… (56+23)

Exponents The second step you must do is exponents ! Example 5² =25

Multiplication and Division. Do multiplication and division from left to right. Example : (4+6)6x9÷5

Addition & Subtraction Do addition and subtraction from left to right
