9 Sep IWoRID2002 Arjen van Rijn Welcome at the National Institute for Nuclear Physics and High Energy Physics Science Park Amsterdam

9 Sep IWoRID2002 Arjen van Rijn National institute for subatomic physics in the Netherlands. Collaboration between: FOM: Dutch Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter, University of Amsterdam, University of Nijmegen, University of Utrecht, VU (Vrije Universiteit) Amsterdam Personnel: ca. 250 fte, 120 fte physicists, 130 fte technical and support staff. Large technical infrastructure (mechanics, electronics, computing). Our mission: fundamental research. Conditional: the use of state of the art and even not yet existing technology, sometimes rendering unexpected spin off applications (Amsterdam Internet Exchange, Pixels, Grids).

9 Sep IWoRID2002 Arjen van Rijn Proud to host IWoRID2002: About 100 participants: - international - interdisciplinary Attractive program, excellent key notes. Social program: a true ‘Amsterdam’ experience! Thanks to Jan Visschers and his team.
