The Cultural Regions of the USA

The Cultural Regions of the USA The Task will focus on the differences of Regions in the U.S.A. The Task is supposed to take place for several weeks. Students will learn about the country and their residents. Students will be organized in groups and have to develop a project in form of a poster describing their region.

The Cultural Regions of the USA The first lesson will start with a brain storming where all students are asked to talk about their experiences with America or Americans. Everything that will come to their mind is collected on the board. A map of America is projected via overhead and students then put in their catchwords with regard to regions. After that pictures are being showed from all parts of the U.S.A. to show them the varieties of the Country.

The Cultural Regions of the USA Pictures from cultural regions (south, west, southwest, midwest, northeast) are shown in random order and students are asked if they know what is shown and where those pictures where taken. Example pictures:

The Cultural Regions of the USA Students have to name the cultural regions shown in the picture After that five groups with around five to six Students are formed Each group of Students chooses one cultural region Every group then collects information on their region (food, climate, cities, people) A poster is made in each group that tells about the peculiarities of each region with texts and pictures

The Cultural Regions of the USA Learning goals: Students will use the Internet for online searches The project will approximately take about 2-3 weeks while students can work in groups during class lessons and after school At the end of the project all groups present their project in front of the course
