IBC Training Requirements 1 of 2 IBC Training Requirements IBC Approvals & training Before an IBC protocol can be approved, PIs and authorized personnel must be up-to-date with all applicable training. Required TRAININGS The use of virus as vectors for genetic material delivery into cells has become very common among the molecular biology community. As such, it is important for users to understand the origins of these tools and potential safety implications of their use. Viral Vectors This training is intent to individuals assigned on projects involving viral vectors. It consists of different training modules that need to be completed according to the type of vector handled in the lab. One time Module 1: Risk Assessment Module 1 needs to be completed by all Go to Training Module 2: Lentiviral Vectors Go to Training Module 3: Gamma-Retroviral Vectors Go to Training Module 4: Adenoviral Vectors Go to Training Module 5: Adeno-Associated Viral (AAV) Vectors Go to Training After reviewing the training modules, individuals must complete the Training Assurance form and forward it to the Biosafety Office. Assurance Form Problems seeing the modules? Click HERE Biosafety Office: 558-6182 inbiocom@ucmail.uc.edu

IBC Training Requirements 2 of 2 IBC Training Requirements Required TRAININGS continued This online training, provided by the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Office, is intent to all individuals assigned to projects involving the use of human or non-human primates derived materials (e.g. established and primary cells, blood, plasma, serum, tissues).  It is required both at the time of initial work assignment and at least every 12 months thereafter.  Go to Training OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Every 12m Introduction Module required for all shippers of packages containing biological substances. This course provides the user with the regulatory background and will provide information on proper classification and identification of materials for shipment.  If the only dangerous goods to be shipped is dry ice, this module does not need to be completed. Biological Substance, Category B Shipping Every 2 y This module is for individuals who have completed the introduction module and already know or have identified the material for shipment as a Biological Substance, Category B. This training is required for all individuals preparing materials for shipment of regulated biological materials and/or dry ice. Infectious Substance (Category A) This module is for individuals who have completed the Introduction and Category B modules and already know or have identified the material for shipment as a Category A, Infectious Substance. Go to Training Once you log in, select Compliance Training, then Biosafety Compliance Training. Dry Ice Module for shippers of packages containing dry ice.   Biosafety Office: 558-6182 inbiocom@ucmail.uc.edu
