2. 500m Safety Zone Workgroup Update
Workgroup formed to increase awareness of potential collision risk to surface assets that attendant vessels offer.
Address HSE concerns over management of collision risk especially as;
Surface installations getting older.
Decreasing marine expertise available offshore.
Attendant vessels becoming larger and with greater mass.
Reinforce good industry practice already available and bring together in one place/subject matter.
Update good practice and training resources accordingly.

Possible approach going forward;
Develop training courses based upon CNOOC model.
Shore-side course for Marine Responsible Person
Online CBT courses for persons with marine interface
Offer to existing training establishments to adopt
Request to design course as though it was OPITO approved
Encourage operators to appoint and train Marine Responsible Personnel

Reform workgroup
Rebadge and make CNOOC material more industry generic
Identify appropriate training providers (TP’s)
