If you do not have your assignment completed, you will fill out a ZAP form. This applies to everyone, school wide. Your parent will be called and informed that you will stay after school. You will have until 4:00 to complete the assignment. If you turn in your assignment before 3:10, your teacher will give you a ZAP card that must be turned into Mrs. Burns in the library.

Lunch Study Hall Students with failing grades will be required to attend until their grades are at a passing level. Mr. Shay, Mr. Gates, or advisory teachers will talk with students who are required to attend. Students will report to the Health Computer Lab (302) at the beginning of their lunch. Students will either go get their lunch and bring it to the chorus room, or they will bring their sack lunch with them. Students must bring all books with them to lunch. Students who are not required to attend lunch study hall may choose to attend to work on homework. In this case, it is not required. Make- Up Work When you are absent, you are responsible for talking with each of your teachers to find out what in class and homework you missed. Students have the number of days absent plus one day to complete make-up work. Student of the Month Each month teachers from all grade levels will select a student of the month. Students of the month are those students who represent Mayo well. These students are respectful, responsible, considerate and go above and beyond in the classroom. Students who are chosen as a student of the month will get to attend a pizza party at lunch and will have their picture taken. Students who earn a 3.5 out of a 4.0 GPA will make Honor Roll. Students who receive straight A’s will be eligible for the Straight A lunch – a lunch trip outside of school during 4th and 5th hours one time per quarter. Academic Letters An Academic Letter can be earned by making the honor roll 3 out of 4 quarters each year. The first time a student earns a letter, he will receive a letter and a bar. Every time after that, the student receives a bar to place on the letter. ROCK STAR LOCKERS 6th, 7th & 8th Graders who earn all As and have perfect attendance will be eligible for ROCK STAR LOCKERS! The lockers are located across from the office. In the event there are more students eligible than lockers, a drawing will be held.

AR POINTS Each quarter, students must earn 10 AR points. Students in advanced literature must earn 15 points. Each quarter students must also take at least one Literacy Skills test. Miss Vonda has a special section for books that have literacy skills tests, but please make sure to double check the list to ensure you have a Literacy Skills book. 7th & 8th graders: We will not be doing extra credit points for AR this year.
