Why Digitize? Provide better access Added value to resources To make information and assets more readily available Support educational and research activities Fulfill strategic mission and goals of institution To eliminate redundant work, and creation of redundant assets (photographs, slides, digitals, etc) Aksum University

Digital Library The Library has implemented digital library using DSpace software . Digital contents (eBooks ) are organized and accessible for users via internet on the campus network. The total collection 1624 digital books are available. Aksum University

What is IR? Broadly speaking digital library and institutional repository are one and the same think. Digital Library covers all kind of library resources are available in digital format. Aksum University

Cont… Institute repository covers whatever recorded data or information produced by the institution , i.e. theses, desertion journals published by the intellectuals , past examination questions ,symposium, Videos, seminars, reports ….etc. Aksum University

Metadata Which metadata standards will you use or support? (This may depend on the software platform you use.) Who is authorized to enter metadata? Only library staff or faculty and content contributors? Who determines if the metadata meets the service’s quality standards? Who can correct mistakes or errors in metadata? User and Privacy Policies Will you have a user agreement with end-users of the system? Will your institute a privacy policy for those who register with the system? Will you authenticate users of the system? Will you allow limited access to certain items? Aksum University
