Our scholarly communications program includes partnerships with many student-focused programs and publications. Library taking a leadership role…

3 Developing & Staffing the Program
Getting started… Head of Collections & Scholarly Communication Scholarly Communications Outreach Coordinator Scholarly Communications Associate Student assistant Liaison librarians & library staff Committees Scholarly communications advisory committee Copyright committee University community partners Liaison librarians now have an expectation of integrating scholarly communications into their work, which has been written into all liaison job descriptions. Distributed workload and collaboration help move the program forward. For example, the Scholarly Communications Advisory Committee provides feedback on IR policies, content management, metadata, etc.

5 Support for Liaisons Infrastructure Environmental scan Retreat
Webinars Workshops Facilitating faculty meetings, support, more information, answer questions, relieving liaisons from having to have all the answers immediately. A significant part of my job is to support the work of liaison librarians by creating opportunities for increasing expertise, collaboratively working with academic departments, responding to questions/concerns, providing resources and tools on topics such as copyright, author rights, open access publishing, etc.

Services Author rights checking/negotiation Digitization Journal publishing Conferences & events SelectedWorks Design Metadata assistance Content Faculty publications Presentations Student works & publications Journals Open education resources Media Data/programs Mix of student and faculty publications, have worked with departments to make sure that we include works which represent them well, what is useful for them to add. Departments have created their own parameters…n addition to providing access and preserving scholarship, we offer many services related to the institutional repository and academic publishing.

10 What’s Next? Data services Identify & respond to liaison support needs
Collaborate with Head of Instruction Continue to develop campus partnerships Develop and implement assessment plan Starting to identify areas where the community needs our assistance (responding to institutional needs as opposed to designing services based on our assumptions). There is growing interest in data management, preservation and dissemination plans/services. Will collaborate with metadata librarian to expand services in this area.
