Mandate Strengthen Service Providers to support small business economic competition Facilitate global market access for small businesses Facilitate business advice & counseling to small businesses and access to raw materials and products Expand, coordinate & monitor the provision of training, advice, counseling & non-financial service to small businesses Provide financial support to Service Providers Formulate programme research & dissemination Make recommendations on policy matters

Overview of the SMME Sector The realisation that there are different segments of SMMEs: Micro Enterprises Survivalist Enterprises – seek a temporary income [1 – 2 people] Micro Businesses – stay small [1 – 5 people] Micro Business with growth potential Small to Medium Businesses [2 – 20 people] Competitive Small Scale Enterprises [20 – 200 people]
