Developmental Theories Danielle, Tyson, Ashley and Caitlin

What is the developmental theory? They describe the patterns in individuals’ behavior over time Large and diverse sample groups of all ages are necessary Used to predict behaviors within generations

How is this achieved? Use of both quantitative and qualitative research methods Use of questionnaires and interviews Determines cause and effect relationships

What does it examine? Biological, psychological, social and cultural factors that influence development Determines whether the differences are instead caused by the age-stage of the individuals Can be combined with systems theory to analyze the transitions of development
