Why Choose a Career in Information Systems? Information Technology is a necessary ingredient for competing in the global marketplace. Companies need qualified employees to plan, design, build, implement, maintain, and manage information systems. Information Technology Association of America estimates that there are 190,000 unfilled positions in Information Systems across the United States. The popularity of the Internet and the rise of Electronic Commerce The are 50 million Internet users. 1 million Internet commerce transactions daily. IBM estimates the computer industry will generate $380 billion in global sales of hardware, software and services in the year 2000.
