Presentation transcript:

Introduction This is a brief visual foray into your family history. Please discuss the following questions with you family: Unless you are a full blood Native American, somewhere in your past there lies a tale (or twenty) of adventure, as your relative(s) immigrated from somewhere else in the world to America. Where in the world do you come from?   For example: I am the first person in my family to be born in California. I know this because I asked my mom. I also know that on my mom’s side of the family I have a set of great grandparents who came here from Poland. My great grandfather came first and then sent for my great grandmother and two of her many sisters. They settled outside of Chicago, and he died very young in a factory accident. I also have relatives that came here from Ireland in 1745, they settled in Ohio, three brothers and a cousin. They had plantations and never had slaves. Finally, on my dad’s side I know that I my relatives that came from Inverness Scotland in 1785. They settled in Oklahoma as farmers. Discuss your heritage with your family. Find out where the different parts of your family came from before they came here. Did they all come from the same place, or from around the globe? When did they get here? Why did they leave their home, their friends, their families, to come to America? Could you? Postcard project cover Keep this slide
