May 22, 2019 You need: Clean paper (2) / Pencil Reading a Weather Map (packet) Warm Up: Mental Math I CAN: read weather maps and notice patterns

Mental Math 1.) My buddy went to the movies and had a 10% coupon. The normal price is $7.50. I had a 20% coupon. How much did I pay? $6

Mental Math 2.) Mr.Wolfe was tired after grading papers…and no wonder!! He has 75 students and each turned in 2 pages. Each page had 5 problems. How many total problems did he grade? 75 x 2 = 150; 150 x 5 = 750 problems

Mental Math 3.) -9 x 3 + 16 = -27 + 16 = -11

Mental Math 4.) 1 ½ + 4 ¾ = **Be sure to simplify! 6 1/4

Mental Math 5.) Coach Wags can run 3 miles in 36 min and Coach Dickerson can run 5 miles in 45 min. Who is running faster? Coach Dickerson

Compare/Contrast Chart - Types of Fronts How it Forms Type of Weather Cold A fast-moving cold air mass overtakes a warm air mass. Clouds form. If warm air is humid, rain/snow may fall. Possible thunderstorms. Warm Front A warm air mass overtakes a slow-moving cold air mass. Scattered clouds. Light rain or snow. May last several days. Stationary Front Cold and warm air meet, but neither can move the other. Creates “standoff” Rain, snow, clouds, or fog that may last for days. Occluded Front A warm air mass is caught between 2 cooler air masses. Warm air mass is pushed up. Temperature gets cooler. Clouds and rain may form.
