I think the... came first because... What came first? I think the... came first because... 2 minutes! Think and discuss in your pairs!

Title - Where did the earth come from? Learning Objective: To investigate different views on how the world began. Learning Outcomes: EVALUATE Band 3 I can identify both sides of the argument on a particular issue and reach a conclusion. Band 4 I can identify both sides of the argument on a particular issue and reach a clear conclusion. Band 5 and 6 I can identify both sides of the argument on a particular issue and reach a justified conclusion, supported by evidence.

Private Study! Find out one piece of Scientific evidence for the Big Bang and write it into your own words (to show you understand it). This could be as a detailed paragraph, a poster or any other way you can think of to present it!

To investigate different views on how the world began. Map from Memory! You will be working in teams with the people on your table to complete a map from memory. Number yourselves 1-5 (or how many are on your table). Each team will have a piece of plain paper. This is where you will try to recreate (copy) my poster. One person from each group will come to the front to see my poster. You will have 30 seconds to memorise as much as you can. You will then go back to your team and try to put the information down on your paper. You need to tell the other members of your team which piece of information you gathered or they might try to remember the same thing! This is where you need to be really good team workers! Each person will come up twice. The group with the most, accurate information may even win a prize! Number ones; are you ready?! To investigate different views on how the world began.

Which team got... There are 7 days in a week. There are 6 days mentioned here. What happened on the 7th day? Hang on a minute! THINK! To investigate different views on how the world began.

Describe the Christian creation story in two sentences. When did God make the trees? Choose one! What is the most interesting thing about the Christian creation story and why? Do you find it believable? Why/why not? To investigate different views on how the world began.

What do you still want to know about creation? I’ve just asked you four questions, now it’s your turn to make the questions! What do you still want to know about creation? Discuss with your table and put one idea on your post-it! To investigate different views on how the world began.

To investigate different views on how the world began. I’d like a volunteer to come to the front and read out the questions we have just come up with. Keep the questions in the back of your mind and we will see if we can answer them later in the lesson! To investigate different views on how the world began.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WF4PqDfRbI Watch and listen carefully. Tell me what you’re thinking - one word, sentence or question! To investigate different views on how the world began.

Let’s do some detective work! In your envelope you have a selection of pieces of evidence for both The Big Bang and The Christian Creation Story. THINK then DISCUSS - which do you think are evidence for the creation of the world and which might not be? It doesn’t matter which you think is right, as long as you can give a reason why you think that! Maybe you don’t agree with any of the information. That’s ok, but be prepared to say what you do believe, with a reason. To investigate different views on how the world began.

So, how was the world created? You should have just thought of your own answer to this question. Now we need to bring together everything we’ve learnt this lesson! You have 15 minutes to write a detailed answer to the question above. Success Criteria (you need to include): Christian views on creation, The Big Bang Theory of creation, What you think! Why some people would disagree with you. EVALUATE Band 3 I can identify both sides of the argument on a particular issue and reach a conclusion. Band 4 I can identify both sides of the argument on a particular issue and reach a clear conclusion. Band 5 and 6 I can identify both sides of the argument on a particular issue and reach a justified conclusion, supported by evidence. Your paragraphs should contain PEE! To investigate different views on how the world began.

To investigate different views on how the world began. Reflection Complete the self-reflection form to see how much we have learnt today. I will read through the post-it note questions from the start of the lesson to remind you. Five minutes! To investigate different views on how the world began.

What do you think about that? ‘Knowing how the world began is not important. Instead of worrying about how it all started, we should spend time thinking about how to treat other people well.’ What do you think about that? To investigate different views on how the world began.
