Question 2

Description In our film we have Detective Parks, the protagonist, Arthur Woods, the antagonist and Hope Parks, the detectives wife. Detective John Parks is 28 years old, is a typical male, he is white, John Parks is middle class and originates in England. Arthur Woods is a white male and is aged 29, He is also middle class and comes from England. Hope Parks is a 27 year old white female, she also is middle class and was born in England.

Characters John Parks is a typical detective in the genre as he has worked hard to get where he is today and he takes his job very seriously. John Parks is a part of the police force as he works as a detective, but often when he feels danger is near he will take charge and try to not let anyone around him get hurt. he could be compared to

Arthur Woods could be seen as a typical villain in the thriller genre, as he is fixated on Hope Parks and this obsessive behaviour is often used to keep the victim crimes related as, for example, serial killers would often have a specific method to their killings and so this is the obsessive behaviour that causes this, but he has other traits like the fact that although he has psychopathic tendencies he loathes bad manners and is very intelligent, he also has no sense of empathy, so he is unable to empathise with anyone. Arthur Woods is an independent character due to his past and is not fond of hiring people to help him. He could be compared with

Hope Parks is a typical character in thrillers as she is the Detective's wife, she has optimist ideals; which is why she became a doctor so that she is able to help anyone and everyone, she is almost the polar opposite of Arthur woods, she is always looking out for her husband making sure that the stress of work is not too much for him. Hope works as a doctor so that she can help people as those are her ideals. She could be compared to

Mise-en-scene The Mise-en-scene used in our opening title sequence we have typical props like our murder weapon, a hammer, is a blunt weapon often used in thrillers by serial killers. our detectives props were also typical as he had gloves, often used for analysing crime scenes, his coat is the typical long coat that detectives mostly wear in thrillers. Our victim also had typical props of thrillers as she was carrying normal items like; keys, her bag and her phone, these normal items are typical of thrillers because the characters in thrillers are usually normal people put under a lot of stress and strain.
