-re verbs

Most -re verbs follow a conjugation pattern just like –er verbs do in French. To conjugate most verbs ending in –re, take off the –re and then add on endings to match the subject of the sentence.

attendre – to wait for j’ attends tu attends Il/elle/on attend nous attendons vous attendez ils/elles attendent *NOTE that the il/elle/on form has no ending added to the stem.

Examples for attendre: Il attend Agathe. He is waiting for Agatha. Nous attendons le bus. We are waiting for the bus.

More –re verbs: entendre to hear perdre to loose répondre (à) to answer vendre to sell rendre to return rendre visite à to visit (someone)
