Troposphere The lowest layer of the atmosphere Weather, clouds, and air pollution are found

Stratosphere Above the troposphere Contains ozone (a layer of gas that protects life on Earth from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays)

Mesosphere The third layer and the coldest part of the atmosphere Rock fragments from space “burn up” and protect earth

Thermosphere Temperatures are extremely high due to the sun’s rays The air is very thin that high up

Exosphere The highest (and last) layer of the atmosphere There are fewer and fewer molecules the higher you go until they escape into space
