Layers of the Atmosphere
Troposphere The lowest layer of the atmosphere Weather, clouds, and air pollution are found
Stratosphere Above the troposphere Contains ozone (a layer of gas that protects life on Earth from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays)
Mesosphere The third layer and the coldest part of the atmosphere Rock fragments from space “burn up” and protect earth
Thermosphere Temperatures are extremely high due to the sun’s rays The air is very thin that high up
Exosphere The highest (and last) layer of the atmosphere There are fewer and fewer molecules the higher you go until they escape into space
