The Mission of the Church, The Body of Christ-PG 16-20

Its mission is to bring us into communion with the three persons of the Holy Trinity: Father, Son , Holy Spirit.

Read. 1 Cor. 12:12-13a. The image of the body. Pg. 16

As members of the body we are united to Christ and to one another. Our participation in the sacraments, specially in the Eucharist strengthens this unity. Pg. 16

The communion of Saints. Pg. 17.

Communion with Christ and the Church Through our participation in the church and the sacraments we find communion with Christ and the Church.

John Paul II said in his encyclical Redemptor Hominis said: The communion with Christ is the Church’s main purpose for existing. Pg. 17

We communion with Christ and the Church whenever we do things for others. Pg. 17. For example… St. Vincent Depaul thrift shop or sub-kitchens in USA.

Communion with other Catholics and with People throughout the world. A second type of communion (first type is w/Chirst) the Church makes possible is unity with other Catholics from all over the world, even those we disagree politically. Read.
