Who Can Participate 1. Democracy- Power rests with the people. direct- Mass meetings indirect- Representative 2. Dictatorship- Power rests with a person or small group of people. autocracy- Single person oligarchy- Small group

Geographic Distribution 1. Unitary government- Centralized 2. Federal government- Divided between central and several local governments. 3. Confederate government- Independent states.

Relationship Between Legislative and Executive Branches 1. Presidential government- Branches are separate and coequal. 2. Parliamentary government- Executive branch is created by the legislative
