God, What have we learned about you, (and ourselves)?

God, what are you telling us, what do you want us to learn, to know 1.. About you 2.. About ourselves

You called this people out from the rest of the world. You came to Abraham -

“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great”

“All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Abraham believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

You did not give him the Land you showed to him “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there.”

“To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates—”

Lord Here is what I am understanding You call you people out from the world They respond, Yet it seems that the whole of their lives is spent in the process of leaving the world and finding identity as your called out

Consider Moses is called, he seems to think You want him to deliver your people… 40 years with sheep! Fiery bush – Then the struggle… Finally with Great Power Moses leads the out…

You show Your Calling You gave them special identity completely different than the world around them. You took the First Born…

[Exodus 4:22-23 NIV] Then say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son, and I told you, "Let my son go, so he may worship me." But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.' "

God, I understand, a little about your special identity The world did not receive the Ten commands Your chosen ones, your called, your called out…Holy

Here is what I see God, You call, we struggle to heed your calling

[Romans 7:24-25 NASB] 24 Wretched man that I am [Romans 7:24-25 NASB] 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

[Romans 8:1-3 NASB] 1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God [did:] sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and [as an offering] for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

[Romans 8:4-6 NASB] 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
