Video Imaged Spatial Positioning Project Final Design Review Michael Schaffer Andrew Lenharth Quang Luu CSE 477 May 17, 2001

Design Issues Cameras Parallel To Horizon Bit-width of RS232 Data Red Filter Operating Conditions

Level Cameras Impossible to know if cameras are level with horizon. Use digital level to automatically adjust to correct coordinates or to alert user that apparatus is not level.

Bit-width of Data One byte per coordinate sent on RS232 255 possible coordinate values Limits resolution of depth (Z) coordinate to 2.82 inches at any distance if max depth is set to 60 feet At desired 0.09 inch coordinate accuracy, range is 23.04 inches

Bit-width of Data (cont…) Limits ability to expand to high resolution cameras in the future.

Operation Conditions Need to completely specify what conditions the apparatus is guaranteed to work in. No sunlight No brightly illuminated areas Laser on light colored surfaces Range Limitations
