Ms. Hovious’ 1st Grade Week of: April 15th, 2018 BOGO book fair this week- send money with your child and I will allow them to go to the book fair - April 18th- Family reading night….BOGO book fair will be open April 19th and 20th- No School If your student plays a spring sport, if you share their schedule with me I will try to make it to see some games :) This week we will continue with our unit on measurement. Students will be estimating and measuring with an inch ruler. Have your child practice measuring by measuring items around the house using different items as a unit. This week in reading we will read Tippy-Toe Chick, Go! and work on dipthongs ow/ou and syllables c + le. We will also practice writing command sentences and questions. This week we will conclude our weather unit. We will be discussing different types of clouds. We will be going outside to observe the clouds and classify them. We will also be making a flipbook with the different types. This week we will work on publishing our class book. Students are working with their writing partners to edit their page in our book. Our book goes along with our weather unit. It is all about the seasons.
