Partnerships in Adult Basic Education: Developing and Maintaining Relationships with Stakeholders “Partnership” is defined as the coming together of multiple organizations to recognize and pursue shared interests. Term may be used interchangeably with stakeholder engagement.

What is the business opportunity for the partners? What are the key aspects of design and provision you can involve partners in? Does the partnership provide structural, logistical, and financial assistance support for students? Make Friends Before You Need Them Regular Meetings Brochures Reports Share Results (Data) Communicate on All Levels

Successful Partnerships KEYS GETTING BUY-IN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY SUPPORT Connect Who needs to be at the table to ensure Success? Cross-Agency Partnerships Agree to a shared vision and gain support Define and commit to an effective partnership Identify all current and potential partners Encourage diversity of the team Select a creditable “objective” convener Contribute What activities are required to meet partnership goals? Clarify Roles/Memorandum of Understanding (as needed) Build a common language and definitions Revisit goals as needed Assigned Deliverables—Strategic Planning, Financial Resources, Network, Coordination of Partnership Collaborate What are major activities for which working agreements should be put in place? Successful partnerships are those in which partners share in both investment of resources (time or money) and rewards or benefits of partnering, and where partners have mutual trust and respect.
