Wi-Fi Protected Access™ Status Wi-Fi Protected Access products were announced in April Mandatory on 8/31/03 50+products certified prior to it becoming mandatory Strong industry adoption (now 70+) No hardware upgrade required Certification of 802.11i (WPA2) in ~2Q’04, when amendment is complete Bill Carney – Texas Instruments

802.11g Certifications Summary Twenty-eight 802.11g Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ products as of end of October 2003 Seeing more combo 11a/g product submissions Bill Carney – Texas Instruments

Wi-Fi Alliance QoS Certification Plans QoS is an important element to next generation products The Alliance is hopeful that IEEE 802.11e will be completed in 2Q’04 and intends to implement certification thereafter As a backup plan in case of unforeseen delay in IEEE 802.11e, The Alliance is prepared to possibly begin QoS certification before the finalization of the amendment Will follow same process as was used for Wi-Fi Protected Access™ Decision will be made in March 2004, following the IEEE 802.11 plenary meeting Test plan development is proceeding Bill Carney – Texas Instruments

Wi-Fi ZONE™ Program Wi-Fi ZONE: Global symbol of public access 50+ countries 6,000+ locations Users find providers – www.wi-fizone.org Free program for providers and users Download locations and take them with you Also for phones – wap.wi-fizone.org Bill Carney – Texas Instruments
